Film Synopsis:

Sicily, 2020. In a godforsaken countryside, a sudden change of weather finally marks the end of a suffocating summer. A bunch of horses stands shrouded in shadows. A city is set on fire. In the doorway of a ruined house, a solitary young shepherd hears the news of a newborn daughter. Late August dives in the landscapes of a wounded island.

About Directors

Federico Cammarata (1993), after the studies in Digital Humanities at the University of Pisa, he graduated in Documentary Filmmaking at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Palermo. His first short film Le Case di Sabbia was screened at the Locarno Film Festival in 2019. His film Salvo was in the official selection at Doclisboa in 2020 and many other national and international festivals. His film Tardo Agosto was in the competition at Doclisboa and Festival dei Popoli in 2021. 

Filippo Foscarini graduated in Comparative Literature in Venice’s Ca’ Foscari University. He also studied Cinematic Documentary-making at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Palermo. His first short film, Africa Bianca (The Imperial Lullaby), inspired by his grandfather’s school notebook, was screened during the 38th Torino Film Festival.
